Core Process

A Process of Identifying the Core Purpose of a Team

Ewing Change Consulting uses a Core Process method created by Chris Bull, Robin Coates and Calvin Germain in Britain in the early 70s to enable an individual to discover his/her own core mission. They called this personal mission “Core Process”. Core Process is the mission at the positive center of an individual and shows you what you are here on the planet to do.

Core Process for Individuals
The positive center of an individual is unique. As that person goes through life he/she finds situations in which everything goes well. Under these circumstances the core process, which is at the heart of the centre, is operating freely. The core process is consistent through time for an individual. Thus the life/job that will best suit a person is one that is consistent with the core process.

The core process describes the best way for an individual to handle any situation. It is very useful as a guide to management style and in team-building situations. We find it remarkably hard to imagine anyone else working in a different way from us. It can also provide a guide when people feel stuck. Ask yourself, “What would you do if you were following your Core Process?” Early work created a great increase in energy, self-confidence and willingness to be supportive on the part of individuals who had been through the process. People reported that they had had fewer ups and downs and recovered from the downs faster.

Core Process for Teams
Once the Core Process for the individuals in a team has been completed for each individual, Core Process can be applied to teams. Often teams of people have a core mandate or task but ignore the deeper purpose that the team needs to tap into to be strategic and productive. Teams who have developed their individual and collective Core Processes are more unified, respectful of their inherent diversity and understanding of the gifts their team brings to the organization. Team Core Process can be used for creating strategy, enhancing productivity and resolving conflict.

How does Ewing Change Consulting Use Core Process?
Ewing Change Consulting can provide Core Process training to individuals and to teams. It can be used as part of an executive coaching process to grow a person’s leadership skills or as part of identifying the core mandate/purpose of a team or to plan the strategy of a business.
